Pinot Noir & Chardonnay, Côte des Bares, France

A bright, brioche-d & briskly bubbling brut nature that is simply stop-you-in-your-tracks delicious. Vigneron Bénédicte Leroy and her husband, Emmanuel, make Champagne from their biodynamic estate in the village of Essoyes – nearly atop the Burgundian border – on gently mineral inflecting ancient limestone & clay soils. A 50/50 blend of pristine, perfumed pinot noir and citric, curious chardonnay bottled with zero dosage. FUN FACT! The wines are grown on the same land where Bénédict’s father, Gerard, settled as a sheep farmer in the 1970s! The only NV (non-vintage) cuvée from the domaine, this perpetual reserve includes wine from every parcel (mainly planted on clay-limestone, with smaller amounts planted on red clay, grey clay, and white limestone) of the domaine dating back to 2011, as well as organically-grown grapes purchased from some of their friends in the Aube. Candied grapefruit and lemon rind, hazelnut husks, orchardly oblivion, brioche french toast with nutmeg & a collapsing castle of salty minerality. Enjoy with morning of pastries, poodle walks and pink jogging suits.
