2018 'Ribolla' 1L
Ribolla Gialla, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, 1L bottle
A RARE, aged, zero-zero skin contact star bottle from the HOUSE of zero-zero skin contact wines. Located on 18 hectares of steep slopes in the northern-flung town of Oslavia, along the Slovenian-Italian border. Saša Radikon took the helm of this globally beloved domaine after his father Stanko Radikon passed, handing him the torch of these ferociously intricate, concentrated and uniquely Slovenian style, Friuli wines. 100% ribolla gialla, 40 years on average, grown on mineral infusing ponca (aka compacted marl, sandstone and marine fossils). Destemmed, crushed and left for a three and a half month maceration in wooden vats, and aged for 3-4 years, this ones a doozy. Worn cotton, lemon meringue, sweets table with cardamom macarons and gingery Christmas cake, rosemary oil, cognac with a salted rim, oil rag & honey mixed with shilajit. A way to punctuate the days and nights, almost utilitarian, but for the mind and soul, use this bottle as a stamp in time.
