A woodsy, autumnal pinot to begin and end with. Coming from a winemaking family, Rajen Toor launched Ursa Major in 2016, developing his own voice and contributing a new perspective to the growing, low intervention winemaking community in British Columbia. Working primarily with purchased fruit for the time being, their goal is to begin growing their own vines as time and conditions allow. In their words, 2023 was a vintage that, “pushed (and continues to push) our bodies, minds, resolve and relationships to the absolute limit”. For ‘An Insidious Beginning’, the certified organic pinot noir came from a small family-run vineyard on the slopes high up in Okanagan (OK) Falls. Grapes were left whole cluster and foot tread for three days before being gently basket pressed for a rustic, earthy & light structure. Wild raspberry leaf, shiso, white cherry gum packet, strawberries with tops, nootka rose, wild sage brush & stumbling across your first porcini.
