‘Exile, Love, and Misunderstandings’

Gamay Noir, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia

A savoury, stemmy and lightly spiced gamay. Rajen Toor started Ursa Major in 2016, working primarily with purchased fruit, their current aim is to work their own vines as soon as time and conditions allow. From their Stoneface vineyard high up above the Naramata Bench, where they say, “The goal with this site was to let the previous forest floor come back to life, and provide much needed organic matter in the very rocky and loamy soil”. The organic gamay was gently destemmed with 20% whole bunches left on stems for a rich 14 day maceration. Sour cherries that peek at you then hide, basil planter, saskatoon berries, shilajit, lightly spiced, old wood keepsake box & chalky tannins. Open while watching your comfort show, surrounded by a multitude of soft things.
