'Queen of the Sierra' Co-Ferment

Field Blend, Calaveras County, USA

An aromatically exuberant, tart, and uplifting red-white field blend in Ontario for the very first time! Welcome back to GW’s Northern California star, Forlorn Hope! Working their sprawling 80-acre, high elevation plot in the Sierra Foothills, winemaker Matthew Rorick focuses on grapes that pay tribute to the state’s eclectic and often unexpected winemaking heritage. From the organic Rorick Heritage Vineyard, the blend of red and white grapes were picked in pairs as dictated by their ripening. FUN FACT! You will notice that grapes from similar places in the world were ready at the same time including: waxy albariño and cherried tempranillo, spiced barbera and citric vermentino, honeyed chenin blanc and peppery pineau d’aunis, earthy trousseau and mineral chardonnay & plummy zinfandel and herbaceous verdelho. Candied strawberries and strawberry flowers, salty rocks, limeade, mushroomy cave air & a rich, viscous texture. Chill down and pour alongside a spicy vindaloo and some much needed floor time.
