Mathilde and Florian Beck-Hartweg come from a LONG lineage of Alsatian winemakers (try 16th century!) and their cuvées speak to both a rich past and compelling future. If you’ve yet to visit Alsace, aka the garden of France, it is a place of towering pines, multitudinous mushrooms & endless wildflowers. Locals have distilled clear fruit brandies called eau-de-vie, or waters of life, for many generations. FUN FACT! You can even follow the ‘eaux-de-vie trail’, stopping at artisanal distilleries in the wine villages and in the Ville Valley, where most of the distilleries are situated! This bottling is a distilled version of the ‘Rittersberg’(a blend pinot noir, pinot gris, auxerrois, riesling & gewürtztraminer), distilled by Hippodeodevie in small, traditional copper stills. Brûléed white sugar, pear popsicle, elderflowers, tickling spice, soaked raisin ampleness, something unrelentingly purple & cooling herbs mix with the stiff breeze of alcohol. Try over ice or shaken with egg whites, simple syrup, lime juice and top with three drops of angostura bitters for the FANCIEST sour conceivable.
