Les Canicules S’Emballent'
Gamay, Beaujolais, France
A zero-zero, glou-glou delight from a talented and agriculturally minded young Beaujo beauty. Romain des Grottes farms in the lower plains of Beaujolais (south of Brouilly), rigorously travelling down the path of natural wine enlightenment, he is guided by the highest quality polyculture farming and no-addition winemaking philosophy. The vineyards cover about eight hectares that have been fully organic and Demeter certified since 2006, hosting vegetable gardens, fruit trees, grains and medicinal herbs between and around the vines. In their words, “We plant trees, hedges, and are constantly challenged to combine respect for life, ecological efficiency and economic survival”. FUN FACT! Due to the very low density of 4000 vines per hectare and a very low yield of grapes, only a few thousand bottles are produced annually! Snag one while you can! 100% old-vine gamay on granite that sees a five five day carbonic maceration for punchy, ‘drunk in love’ kinda drinkable vibes. CRUNCH of cranberry, a robin singing, never-ending acidity, vivacious herb droplets & a whisper of fizz upon open. Enjoy with bacon and pancakes.
