'Nerocapitano'

Frappato, Sicily, Italy

A balanced, spiced and pretty as can be chillable red from a Sicilian front runner. After working with THE Frank Cornelissen, Filippo and Nancy started Lamoresca from scratch in the small town where Filippo was born, between Mt. Etna and Vittoria. Today their 11 hectare isolated oasis of vineyards, olive and citrus groves, newly planted forest, and wildlife stands without another winery for 50 square miles. The raspberry-scented frappato comes from 20 year old vines planted on clay and sandstone. The grapes were fermented on the skins for two weeks before being pressed off with an old, manual basket press to avoid pulling sharp, overpowering tannins. FUN FACTS! Nerocapitano is the local name for this highly favoured Sicilian grape, AND the bees found in their four hectare vineyard are a species extinct in the rest of Sicily! WHAT!?! Wildflower perfume, red cherry blaster, blood orange punch, wet leaves under a chestnut tree, burnt sage & salty cinnamon sprinkle. Chill and enjoy under an olive tree with tapenade a plenty.
