'Parkette Rouge' Piquette
Concord & Honey, Vineland, Ontario
An aromatic, delightful low alcohol, and fizzy as-the-day-is-long piquette, from the inspiring, new-to-the-Ontario-scene winemakers, Bon Sang! Making low intervention wine with hybrids and regional grapes in Vineland, ON, we encourage you all to keep your eyes on these folks. 100% concord, hand-picked and left on skins for 13 days, followed by an additional two weeks of maceration after rehydration. FUN FACT! ! A piquette, or ‘farmer’s wine’, is made by adding water, and sometimes a type of sugar, to the grapes leftover after a first pressing of wine to create a secondary fermentation from all the delicious flavour still locked in those grapes. The wine is then bottled with a small addition of Niagara honey to achieve their desired level of carbonation. ONE MORE FUN FACT! Vitis Labrusca is a grapevine species that originated in North America and is the parent to many tasty grapes, including one used here, CONCORD. Cherry pie, a bed of rose petals, jolly rancher nostalgia & Welch's grape juice freezie. Enjoy on a curb somewhere with a street hot dog, shawarma or poutine!
