'Slatnik'

Chardonnay & Friulano, Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Italy

A strong-willed, and compelling orange that argues the right side, always. Radikon’s 18 hectares of steep, sloping vineyards reside in the north-eastern Italian province, and big time wine nerd paradise, of Friuli Venezia-Giulia. Bordering Slovenia, the area is revered for its full-bodied and complex white and skin-contact wines. FREAKY FUN FACT! Their vineyards are so low yielding, you can expect only 4 to 5 bunches from each vine! #qualityNOTquantity. ‘Slatnik’ is a blend of lusty, mineral chardonnay (80%), and green, citric Tokaj Friulano (20%) grown on ponca (aka compacted marl, sandstone and marine fossils) that really amp up mineral expression and aromatics. The fruit is de-stemmed to limit bitterness and left on skins for 10-14 days, then aged for a year. Warm gingery caramel pools into hard resin, grapefruit marmalade, dried apricot, starfruit florality, salted green tomato, ship mast at the bottom of the sea minerality & great grandma’s brine recipe from the old country. Enjoy with Turkish Lahmacun – crispy flatbread topped with minced meat, tomatoes, onions, and spices.
