'Tinto Tradicional'
Listán Negro, Canary Islands, Spain
A rich, smoky and savoury taste of the Canary Islands. Third generation winemaker Agustín García Farrais’s main focuses are caring for and improving the environment, conserving traditional viticulture & rescuing abandoned plots. FUN FACT! Some of the family’s oldest plots of regional grapes listán negro and listán blanco vines were planted in 1914! The most planted grape in all of the Canary Islands, this listán negro was grown on terraced hillside vineyards overlooking the Atlantic (jealous!), before macerating four days to pull just a shred of tannin, and aging for two months in American oak barrels. Snubbed wick, leather boots stuck in tar, mint, thyme infused balsamic, dried blueberries & tart cherry pie. Goes great with Canarian ropa vieja, a hearty beef and chicken stew!
