Armagnac VSOP
Ugni Blanc, Folie Blanche & Colombard, Bas Armagnac, France
A uniquely complex, aromatic and unforgettably lavish brandy in Ontario for the very first time & ready to shine on your bar cart. For almost two centuries the Dartigalongue house has resided in the heart of Gers in the village of Nogaro. Their area, Bas-Armagnac, is in the west of the appellation with SANDY soils that make their brandies more delicate and aromatic. Distilled only once, this preserves more flavour complexities and rich aromatics – and is also what distinguishes it from Cognac (which is distilled twice!). Each blend is made up of several complementary vintages, some giving fruit, tannin, rich florals & beyond. FUN FACT! The designation of VSOP indicates aging in barrels for a minimum of four years! #concentration. Stewed red plum, pile of twigs, orange pulp, apple blossoms, a walnut fudge gluttonous roundness & vanilla whip. Enjoy with someone’s grandma’s recipe for dark chocolate soufflé or gâteau royal.
